Who Am I

My journey into the field of Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) has been shaped by personal experiences, military service, and a deep passion for helping families and individuals navigate the complexities of relationships. After nearly two decades in the Navy, where I had the privilege of mentoring and supporting people through some of their most challenging times, I felt a strong calling to transition into a more personal, impactful career—by becoming a therapist.

Through my service, I encountered challenges that tested both my physical and mental resilience. These experiences have given me a unique perspective on overcoming adversity and managing stress, trauma, and the effects of long-term strain. I understand how these issues can influence family dynamics, and I am committed to helping others navigate similar struggles with empathy and care.

Currently pursuing my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy, I am learning evidence-based techniques to support individuals and families through relational difficulties. My approach is grounded in inclusivity, empathy, and collaboration, drawing on my background in mentorship and leadership from my time in the military. I aim to help families work through their challenges by focusing on their inherent strengths, fostering open communication, and encouraging positive interactions.

In addition to my professional experiences, my personal life has enriched my understanding of family and relationships. As a father and husband in an interracial marriage, I have witnessed how diversity can shape family dynamics and bring both beauty and complexity. I’ve grown up with exposure to various religious traditions, but I have chosen to embrace a more values-driven approach to life, drawing wisdom from multiple sources. These experiences influence my open-minded, culturally aware therapeutic approach.

I am passionate about helping individuals and families find healing, grow stronger, and build healthier relationships. Once licensed, I look forward to integrating my personal insights, academic knowledge, and life experience into a therapy practice that supports people in meaningful and transformative ways.
